Blackjack
Objective of the game
  1. The objective of blackjack is to beat the dealer by having the highest value hand which does not bust.
  2. The hand with the highest total value of 21 or under wins.
  3. A hand with a value over 21 is called a "bust" and automatically loses.
  4. If the dealer and player both bust the player still loses.
  5. IF the dealer and player have the same points value, it is called a "push", considered a draw, and neither the player or dealer win the hand.
  6. In blackjack, each player is playing a separate, independent game against the dealer. This means that it is possible for the dealer to win some hands, and lose others in the same round.
Scoring
  1. Cards 2-10 are worth their face value, regardless of suit.
  2. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth 10.
  3. Ace cards are worth 11, unless this would cause the player to bust, in which case an Ace is worth 1.
Order of play
  1. Players make their initial bets, and then cards are dealt.
  2. The dealer gives 2 cards to each player, including himself.
  3. One of the dealers cards is face-up, visible by all players. The other card is face down.
  4. A two-card hand of 21 (an ace plus a ten-value card) is called a "blackjack" or a "natural", and is an automatic winner (unless the dealer has blackjack as well, in which case the hand is a push).
  5. A player with a natural (Blackjack) is paid 3:2 on his bet.
At this point, the player may perform one of the following actions:
  1. Hit
  2. Stand
  3. Double Down
  4. Split
  5. The player's turn is over after deciding to stand, doubling down to take a single card, or busting.
If the player busts, he or she loses the bet even if the dealer goes on to bust.

After all the players have finished making their decisions, the dealer then reveals the hidden hole card and plays the hand. The dealer must hit until he or she has at least ***HARD OR SOFT ***17, regardless of what the players have.

If the dealer busts then all remaining players win. In this case, bets are paid out at the odds of 1:1.

Players who push (tie) with the dealer receive their original bet back.
Terminology
Blackjack / Natural - When the total value of your first 2 cards is 21. Note that a hand is ONLY a blackjack when the total of the first 2 cards is 21. If you split a pair of Aces for example, and then draw a ten-valued card on one of the Aces, this is not a blackjack, but rather a total of 21. A blackjack pays the player odds of 3:2

Hit - Take (receive) another card.

Stand - Receive no more cards.

Double Down - Double the bet, take exactly one more card, then stand.

Split - Double the bet , then have each card become the first card in a new hand. This option is available only when both cards have the same value.

Soft hand (eg soft 17) - A hand containing an Ace is called a "soft" total if the Ace can be counted as either 1
